Actor Akshay Kumar makes a powerful appearance as Lord Shiva in Vishnu Manchu’s upcoming pan-India mythological film, Kannappa. The film’s makers unveiled the first look of Akshay on Monday, showcasing him in a white dhoti and embodying the Hindu deity with a sincere demeanour. He is seen carrying iconic Shiva symbols, including a trishul (trident) and a damru (small hand drum), exuding both power and strength.

Akshay Kumar reveals FIRST look as Lord Shiva in Kannappa

This marks the second time Akshay Kumar will portray Lord Shiva on screen in Kannappa. He previously played the role in Oh My God 2, alongside Pankaj Tripathi. Notably, the poster for Kannappa highlights Akshay’s blue throat, symbolizing Shiva’s act of consuming poison.

The poster features a line that encapsulates the power and strength of Shiva, stating, “The supreme lord who rules over the three worlds surrenders himself to pure devotion (sic).” Akshay shared the poster, expressing his excitement with the caption, “Stepping into the sacred aura of Mahadev for #Kannappa. Honored to bring this epic tale to life. May Lord Shiva guide us on this divine journey. Om Namah Shivaya (sic)!”

About Kannappa

Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, Kannappa stars Vishnu Manchu in the titular role. It tells the story of one of Lord Shiva’s most devoted followers, Kannappa. The film also features an impressive cast, including Malayalam superstar Mohanlal and Kajal Aggarwal. Also present are R Sarathkumar, Preity Mukundan, Arput Ranka, Kaushal Manda, Devaraj and others.

With a significant budget, Kannappa is set to be released in multiple languages. It includes Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, and English. Produced by Vishnu’s father, the legendary actor Mohan Babu, the film is scheduled to hit the screens on April 25.
